Indian amateur sensation Avani Prashanth showed her mettle by shooting a 1-under 71, ending the opening day T-14 at the Montauban Ladies Open.

Despite starting with two birdies and three bogeys on the front nine, Avani fought back with birdies on the 15th and 16th holes to finish under par.

Meanwhile, fellow Indian Durga Nittur posted a 3-over 75, placing her T-53rd. Leading the pack is Australia’s Kelsey Bennett, who scored an impressive nine-under-par 63, followed by England’s Amy Taylor at five-under-par 67.
