A prominent figure in Nepali cricket, Sandeep Lamichhane, is set to join his team for the Caribbean leg of the T20 World Cup campaign despite facing visa issues. The announcement came from Nepal's cricket association on Monday.
Lamichhane, who previously had an eight-year sentence for rape overturned due to insufficient evidence, was denied a US visa twice last month despite governmental interventions. Initially included in Nepal's 15-member squad, his participation had been in question until now.
The tournament, co-hosted by the US and West Indies, will see Lamichhane joining for the last two matches in the West Indies, subject to ICC's Event Technical Committee approval.
