Ciaran Frawley has quickly learned the highs and lows of professional rugby. His last-play drop-goal clinched a 25-24 victory for Ireland over world champions South Africa on Saturday.

Trailing by five points with ten minutes remaining at King’s Park, Frawley brought Ireland within striking distance before sealing the win. This was a notable bounce-back performance for the Leinster player who had missed a crucial drop-goal in May's Champions Cup final against Toulouse, a miss that led to extra time and ultimately a 31-22 loss.

“This is only my sixth cap, and I’m delighted to be getting games,” said Frawley, reflecting on his journey. “After the disappointment with Leinster, it's gratifying to see this one go through the posts.”

Recognizing that drop-goals would be critical in tight matches, Frawley and his teammates practiced diligently. Their preparation paid off as Ireland, leading 16-6 at halftime, faced a resurgent South Africa but managed to rally for a dramatic finish. “The lads were exhausted but persevered,” Frawley added, praising his team's grit in a physically demanding contest.

Although South Africa claimed the first test in Pretoria 27-20, the series ended in a 1-1 draw, thanks to Frawley's heroics.
