Athletics Tanzania announces participation of runners in 3 international events in 2019

Athletics Tanzania has announced its plans to field several athletes in the next three international competitions scheduled to take place in 2019. The secretary general of Athletics Tanzania, Wilhelm Gidabuday said that his association is looking at having a good number of athletes to compete in 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships slated to take place on March 30 in Denmark.
According to him, the Tanzanian athletes should continue training after participating in the Karatu Sports and entertainment festivals held in Arusha recently. He also said that three competitions (World Cross Country Championships in Denmark on March 30, All African Games in Morocco from August 23 to September 3 and World Marathon in Qatar from September 28 to October 6) will provide them directions ahead of Tokyo's 2020 Olympic Games.
He further said that their aim is to win medals in almost all the competitions and runners secure qualifying marks. According to him, the national athletic governing body is proud of success the nation has had in the sports in two years the body's leadership has been in power.
"We've Mbulu camp in Manyara Region and another in Arusha Region. The two camps are under sponsorship of MultiChoice Tanzania and Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, the runners will train till the 2020," he added.
