India’s sports ministry has finalized the nation’s contingent for the upcoming Paris Olympics, which will see 117 athletes competing. Supporting them will be 140 staff members, with 72 funded by the government.

Absent from the list is shot-putter Abha Khatua, who qualified through world rankings but was unexpectedly dropped. The reason for her exclusion remains undisclosed, sparking concerns of injury, doping, or technical issues.

Highlighting the support arrangement, Gagan Narang, London Olympics bronze medallist, will serve as the chef-de-mission. To meet the needs of the athletes, additional accommodations have been arranged outside the Games Village at government expense.
