Barcelona Fans Rally for Nico Williams with TikTok Fundraiser

Barcelona fans have been contributing small amounts of money through TikTok to help secure the signing of Nico Williams. The Athletic Bilbao winger has become a major transfer target after a standout performance in Spain's European Championship run. However, the small donations, mostly retained by the social network, may not significantly help Barcelona's financial woes.

Barcelona fans are showing their support for the LaLiga side by contributing symbolic amounts of money on the club's official TikTok account to secure the signing of forward Nico Williams. The 22-year-old Athletic Bilbao winger has become a prime transfer target for top European clubs after his impressive performances in Spain's seven-match winning streak at the European Championship.

Williams, who scored twice, including the opener in Spain's 2-1 victory against England in the final, demonstrated a promising partnership with Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, who was named the tournament's best young player. Eager to see a Yamal-Williams attacking duo, Barcelona fans are pushing the club to sign Williams despite its recent financial challenges.

Comments such as 'Sign Nico', 'We 100% need Nico', and 'For Nico Williams' have accompanied the donations on Barcelona's latest TikTok videos. According to Transfermarkt, Williams' current market value stands at 70 million euros ($76.29 million), while the Spanish press reported his release fee set at 58 million euros.

Despite the fans' goodwill, the contributions, referred to as 'rewards' on TikTok, may not significantly aid the club financially, as they range from five cents to one Euro, with a large portion retained by the social network. Barcelona, who finished second in LaLiga and were ousted in the Champions League quarter-finals last season, have yet to sign any players during the summer transfer window. ($1 = 0.9176 euros)
