Jerome Boateng Faces Suspended Fine for Bodily Harm

Former Germany defender Jerome Boateng received a suspended fine and a warning after being found guilty of premeditated bodily harm against his former partner. Former Germany defender Jerome Boateng has been handed a suspended fine and a warning after a Munich court on Friday found him guilty of premeditated bodily harm against his former partner.

The 200,000-euro ($217,760) suspended fine, equating to 5,000 euros a day for 40 days, is only enforceable if Boateng commits another offense. Additionally, the judge ordered Boateng to pay 100,000 euros to various charitable organizations.

The 2014 World Cup winner, who attended court in a dark blue suit, was accused of injuring his ex-girlfriend during a 2018 vacation dispute. The mother of his twin daughters alleged Boateng threw a lamp and a small cool box, the latter injuring her arm, before physically assaulting her.

Boateng denied these allegations. This trial marks the third in the ongoing case. State prosecutors initially demanded a 1.12-million-euro fine and now have one week to decide on appealing to Bavaria's top court.

In a statement, Boateng expressed relief, saying, 'I am immensely relieved that this nightmare that has lasted for years is now over. Now I want to concentrate on my family and football.'
