Eddie Howe's Future Amid England Head Coach Speculations
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has expressed his commitment to the club amid reports linking him to the England head coach role following Gareth Southgate's departure. Howe emphasized his happiness and support at Newcastle, while the FA has advertised for a new head coach to lead England to future success.
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has reiterated his commitment to his current club despite speculation about his potential candidacy for the England head coach position. This follows Gareth Southgate's recent announcement of his departure after England's narrow 2-1 defeat to Spain in the European Championship final.
Howe, speaking from Newcastle's training camp in Germany, told BBC Radio, "Really, there has been no thought in my mind on anything else and I have been very committed to the job here. For me, as long as I am happy and feel supported and feel free to do the work that I love to do at Newcastle, I’ll be very happy - and I am very happy." He added that he feels honoured and privileged to manage Newcastle and is determined to win a trophy for the club.
On Friday, the Football Association (FA), England’s governing body, publicly advertised the head coach job, outlining the need for a coach with significant experience in English football and a proven track record in the Premier League or international competitions. The FA has set an application deadline of August 2, with the Nations League commencing in September.
