Excitement Builds for Second Hockey India Junior West Zone Championship!

The second Hockey India Junior Men and Women West Zone Championship is scheduled from July 21 to 28 in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. With teams divided into pools, the tournament offers young players a platform to showcase their abilities. Top teams from each pool will advance to the semifinals and finals.

The second Hockey India Junior Men and Women West Zone Championship is gearing up for an exhilarating showdown from July 21 to 28 in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.

In the women's category, teams are split into two pools: Pool A includes Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat, while Pool B features Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu. The round-robin format will determine which top two teams from each pool proceed to the semifinals.

The men's competition has six teams in a single pool: Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Goa. The top two teams will move to the final, and the third and fourth-placed teams will compete for the third position.

Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey emphasized the importance of this championship for player development, saying, ''It offers a great platform for young players to showcase their abilities and gain significant experience.'' Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh added, ''Our aim is to nurture the junior players and give them the best possible exposure. Competitions like these are crucial for building confidence and preparing them for higher levels of the sport.''

The tournament opener will see Madhya Pradesh against Goa, and Rajasthan taking on Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu in the women's category. For the men's category, Madhya Pradesh will face Goa, Rajasthan will compete with Gujarat, and Maharashtra will challenge Chhattisgarh.
