Igor Stimac, the former head coach for India's national football team, issued a stark warning to his successor, Manolo Marquez, on Monday. 'The journey ahead won't be easy,' Stimac cautioned, while also expressing confidence in Marquez's ability to navigate the challenges.

Stimac's tenure came to an abrupt end last month following India's failure to advance to the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. He described his dismissal as 'unilateral' and 'unjust,' threatening to take the AIFF to the FIFA Tribunal if his outstanding debts were not settled within 10 days.

Manolo Marquez, who has been coaching in India since 2020, will take on a dual role, managing both FC Goa and the Indian national team. His first assignment for India will be the Tri-Nation tournament in Vietnam in October.
