PCB Awaits ICC Decision on India's Participation in Champions Trophy
The PCB has left it to the ICC to persuade BCCI to send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year. Despite budget approval at recent ICC meetings, the event's schedule and format were not discussed. The PCB has proposed hosting all of India's games in Lahore.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has deferred to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to persuade the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow its team to participate in the upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year.
According to a PCB insider, while the budget for the event was approved during recent meetings in Colombo, the schedule and format were not addressed. The PCB has completed its responsibilities as host, submitting the draft schedule, format, and budget for the event.
"The PCB has proposed holding all of India's games, including a potential semi-final and final, in Lahore," said the insider. The ball is now in ICC's court to finalize the schedule and confirm India's participation. Special provisions are included in the budget for scenarios where India's matches might need to be relocated outside Pakistan.
