India has advanced to the Women's Asia Cup final after a commanding 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the semifinal on Friday. Opening the batting, Bangladesh struggled to reach 80/8 in 20 overs, with skipper Nigar Sultana scoring 32. Pacer Renuka Thakur (3/10) and Radha Yadav (3/14) were the top bowlers for India.
In the chase, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana (55*) and Shafali Varma (26*) easily reached the target in just 11 overs. This victory was bolstered by Renuka Thakur's successful bowling partnership with Pooja Vastrakar, who have been instrumental in obtaining early wickets for the Indian side in recent matches.
Renuka credited her strong understanding with Vastrakar for their effectiveness. "If she is picking up wickets, I aim to keep bowling dot balls, and vice versa," she said, adding that their combined pressure pushes batters into making errors. Renuka, who moved to 50 T20I wickets during her 3/10 spell, aims to win the final against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
