Indian Duo Reflects on Performance After Narrow Miss in Olympic Shooting Qualifiers

At the Paris Olympics, Indian shooters Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh narrowly missed qualifying for the final in the 10 m air rifle mixed team event. Valarivan expressed satisfaction with her effort, stating she gave '100 percent,' which she considers vital.

The Indian duo finished 12th among 28 teams, scoring a total of 626.3 points, with Valarivan and Singh contributing 312.6 and 313.7 points respectively. 'I felt I gave my 100 percent, which is what matters to me,' Valarivan told ANI. She added that there are lessons to be learned and improvements to be made with her coaches.

Partner Sandeep Singh also reflected on his performance, emphasizing that he followed his process but acknowledged that events sometimes differ from expectations. Head coach Suma Shirur praised the team, noting that despite narrowly missing the bronze medal play-off, the athletes will correct their mistakes and perform better in upcoming events. Germany and Kazakhstan will compete for the bronze, while China and South Korea vie for gold.
