Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to shooter Manu Bhaker to congratulate her on winning a historic bronze medal in the 10m air pistol event at the Paris Olympics. This achievement makes her the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting and ends a 12-year wait for a medal in the sport.

In a telephonic conversation, PM Modi commended Bhaker for her remarkable comeback after a pistol malfunction cost her a medal chance at the Tokyo Olympics. “You missed out on a silver by the smallest of margins but still you have made the country proud,” he said. Bhaker thanked the Prime Minister for his support and assured him that everything was well taken care of at the Games.

Modi expressed confidence in Bhaker's upcoming events, stating that her hard work would bring further rewards. Bhaker, who is also competing in 25m pistol and 10m pistol mixed team events, has a chance to add more medals to her tally. “Your beginning has been so well that it will raise your confidence to another level,” PM Modi added.
