Ferrari's Carlos Sainz is set to race for Williams next season after signing a multi-year deal, the Formula One team announced on Monday. This major coup comes as Williams, currently ninth in the championship, aims to boost their standings.

The Spaniard will partner with Alex Albon, replacing U.S. racer Logan Sargeant. Sainz leaves Ferrari to make way for Mercedes' seven-times world champion, Lewis Hamilton. Williams disclosed that Sainz, a 29-year-old with three race wins, inked a two-year agreement with options for extension.

"The driver market has been complex this year, and it took me some time to decide," Sainz stated. "However, I am confident that Williams is the right team for my F1 journey. The goal of bringing Williams back to the front of the grid is a challenge I embrace with excitement."

Fred Vasseur, Ferrari team boss, praised Sainz's choice. "Carlos will feel at home with Williams Racing," he said. Williams' principal James Vowles echoed this, calling Sainz a perfect fit and a signal of intent for the team's future ambitions. Sainz’s decision paves the way for other driver announcements in F1.
