As Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain prepares for her opening match against Sunniva Hofstad in the women's 75kg category at the Paris Olympics, her native village in Assam's Golaghat is abuzz with prayer rituals. Villagers performed traditional ceremonies at a local temple on Wednesday, hoping to bring her victory.

Lovlina's father, Tiken Borgohain, expressed unwavering confidence in his daughter. He stated that her rigorous training, particularly after her Tokyo experience, would pave the way for a stellar performance in Paris. 'We are confident that Lovlina will deliver a strong performance and achieve positive results,' he added.

Borgohain also extended gratitude to the Assam government for their support, noting Lovlina's extensive training regime that included sessions in Patiala, as well as stints in Italy and Germany. 'Her coach, federation, and team manager have ensured she received top-notch training,' he emphasized. Despite a busy schedule, Lovlina continues to focus on her preparations ahead of the crucial match.
