Manu Bhaker Aims for Third Olympic Medal After Stellar Performance
Indian shooter Manu Bhaker is on track for her third Olympic medal after an impressive performance in the 25m sports pistol event. Already a double bronze medalist in this edition, Bhaker qualified for the finals, placing second. Her outstanding performance follows a troubled Tokyo 2021 campaign.
Indian shooter Manu Bhaker is poised to secure a hat-trick of Olympic medals after delivering one of her most outstanding performances in her favorite event, the 25m sports pistol. Competing at the Chateauroux shooting range, the 22-year-old secured her spot in the finals, finishing second in the qualification round on Friday.
Already history-making with two bronze medals in the current Olympic edition, Bhaker can further enhance her legacy with a potential third medal on Saturday. She has demonstrated remarkable consistency, staying among the top three throughout the 'precision' and 'rapid' rounds, finishing with a total score of 590, right behind Hungary's Veronika Major who matched the Olympic record.
Bhaker's performance at these Olympics shines even brighter given her disappointing Tokyo 2021 campaign, where equipment failure dashed her medal hopes. Since then, she has significantly improved, especially after reuniting with coach Jaspal Rana.
