Indian shooter Manu Bhaker is on track for a hat-trick of Olympic medals, having secured a spot in the final of the 25m sports pistol event. Already a record-holder with two bronze medals in the current Games, Bhaker's sterling performance highlights her resilience following a setback at the Tokyo Olympics.
Indian shooter Manu Bhaker kept herself on track for a hat-trick of Olympic medals, delivering one of her most memorable performances in her favourite event, the 25m sports pistol. Bhaker booked a place in the final by securing the second spot on Friday.
Already making history as the first Indian athlete to win two bronze medals in one edition of the Games, the 22-year-old can add to her accolades with a third medal on Saturday. Her commanding performance in the qualification round, where she aggregated 590 to be placed second, showcases her consistent dominance.
Bhaker's improvement is evident, especially after reuniting with legendary shooter-turned-coach Jaspal Rana. She has previously won the 10m women’s air pistol bronze and the 10m air pistol mixed team bronze alongside Sarabjot Singh. With India relying on her imperious form, Bhaker could well be in line to secure a gold or silver medal.
