In a landmark achievement, Lakshya Sen emerged victorious in a tightly contested battle against Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei, becoming the first male Indian shuttler to secure a spot in the singles semifinals at the Olympic Games.

Sen, a 22-year-old from Almora, showcased extraordinary resilience after dropping the first game 19-21. He rallied back to win the next two games 21-15 and 21-12, in a match that lasted 75 minutes.

This historic win came a day after PV Sindhu and the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty exited the competition. Sen now joins the ranks of legendary Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal, who have previously crossed the quarterfinal stage.
