In a heart-wrenching conclusion to their Olympic campaign, Indian archers Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in the recurve mixed team event at the ongoing Paris Olympics. Competing against the USA, the Indian duo fell short in a tense match that saw them making history by becoming the first Indian pair to reach the semi-finals at the Olympics in this category.

Despite their efforts, their arrows didn't hit the mark at decisive moments. Reflecting on the narrow loss, Bommadevara told ANI, 'It feels good that we have performed better than in past Olympics, but it is sad to miss out on a medal. We will continue to improve and work hard with the support of SAI, TOPS, and the federation.'

The Indian team faced crucial setbacks early in the match, with Ankita hitting a seven in her opening shot, allowing the American team to take the lead. Despite a comeback effort, they couldn't turn the tide in their favor. The American archers capitalized on every opportunity, ultimately securing a 6-2 victory. Before the bronze match, the Indian duo fell short against South Korea in the semi-finals.
