Summer McIntosh, the rising star in Canadian swimming, is poised for a golden 18th birthday come August 18. At the ongoing Olympic Games, McIntosh has already secured a silver in the 400-meter freestyle, and golds in the 400 individual medley and 200 butterfly events.

“The first night when I put the silver on my neck I was actually in shock how heavy it was,'' McIntosh remarked. Despite her youth, she has shown remarkable poise and determination, learning valuable lessons from every race.

Adding to her collection, McIntosh captured the 200 butterfly on Thursday with an Olympic-record time of 2:03.03, a victory that meant even more as it was her mother’s signature race. “Sharing that moment with her was pretty cool,” she said. As she continues to train and compete, McIntosh insists on a simple routine to keep her body and mind in top form.
