Indian Shooters Fall Short in Women's Skeet Qualification at Paris Olympics
Indian shooters Maheshwari Chauhan and Raiza Dhillon placed 14th and 23rd respectively in the women's skeet qualification at the Paris Olympics. Both shooters fell short of the top six needed to advance to the finals. Italy's Olympic gold medallist Diana Bacosi also did not qualify, finishing 15th.
Indian shooters Maheshwari Chauhan and Raiza Dhillon finished in 14th and 23rd place respectively in the women's skeet qualification at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. Maheshwari scored an aggregate of 118 across five series, while Raiza totaled 113.
Despite their best efforts and consistent shooting, neither Maheshwari nor Raiza managed to secure a spot in the top six, required to advance to the finals. Notably, Italy's 2016 Rio Olympic gold medallist Diana Bacosi also missed qualification, finishing just below Maheshwari in 15th place with a total score of 117.
On the first day of qualifications, Maheshwari showed promise by ranking eighth with an aggregate score of 71. However, despite her attempt with a 25 on Sunday, she could not advance. Raiza started in 25th place among 29 shooters with an aggregate score of 66. In parallel events, Vijayveer Sidhu and Anish Bhanwala are competing in the 25m rapid fire pistol men's qualifications.
