Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, on Friday, extended heartfelt congratulations to wrestler Aman Sehrawat for clinching the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.

Sehrawat secured the bronze by defeating Puerto Rico's Darian Cruz in the men's 57kg freestyle category at the Games. This 21-year-old U-23 world champion was the only Indian male wrestler to qualify and did not disappoint, posting a commendable 13-5 victory in the bronze play-off match.

India has consistently won Olympic wrestling medals since 2008, and Sehrawat's victory keeps this streak alive. 'Wrestler Aman Sehrawat performed brilliantly to win the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for your achievement. This is a moment of pride for us all,' stated Saini. Celebrations erupted in Sehrawat's native village, Birohar, in Jhajjar district. His uncle, Sudhir Sehrawat, credited the medal to Aman's gruelling practice sessions of 10-12 hours daily and expressed confidence that he will secure a gold medal in the next Olympics.
