Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen is day-to-day because of a groin injury, the team announced Saturday. The injury caused Andersen to miss Saturday's home game against the New York Islanders. The Maple Leafs also announced that they traded for goalie Michael Hutchinson from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Toronto's fifth-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. The 29-year-old Andersen last saw action against the New York Rangers on Dec. 22 when he made 25 saves in a 5-3 victory.

The six-year veteran is 20-9-1 this season with a 2.50 goals-against average and .923 save percentage. The Leafs started Garret Sparks against the Islanders and called up Kasimir Kaskisuo from Toronto's AHL affiliate as the emergency backup. The Maple Leafs plan to assign Hutchinson, 28, to the AHL after he played in four games with Florida this season.
