Tottenham Hotspur Secures Dominic Solanke in Record-Breaking Transfer
Tottenham Hotspur announced the signing of striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, a deal reportedly worth around 65 million pounds, setting a new record for Bournemouth. The 26-year-old English striker has had a successful career, with previous stints at Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bournemouth, where he scored 77 goals in 216 matches.
In a significant move, Tottenham Hotspur has signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, with the deal extending until 2030, the North London club confirmed on Saturday.
While financial specifics weren't disclosed, British media estimate the deal to be around 65 million pounds ($82.93 million), marking a record sale for Bournemouth. A statement from Bournemouth confirmed that Solanke's transfer encompasses the largest financial package they've ever received for a player.
The 26-year-old striker, who has one cap for England, had an impressive 2023-24 season, scoring 19 goals in the Premier League and helping Bournemouth achieve their highest points tally in the era. Solanke began his career at Chelsea, transferring to Liverpool in 2017 and then to Bournemouth in 2019, where he scored 77 goals in 216 appearances across all competitions.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou expressed optimism about the signing, saying, "We have got Dominic at a really good time in his career. He has fought his way back to become a notable Premier League striker, which is a testament to his character." Postecoglou also noted that after Harry Kane's move to Bayern Munich, Spurs were in need of quality in the final third, which Solanke will provide.
Tottenham Hotspur, who finished fifth last season, will kick off their Premier League campaign against promoted Leicester City on Aug. 19.
