Returning as heroes after clinching a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, the Indian Men's Hockey Team, including players like Hardik Singh and Mandeep Singh, touched down at New Delhi Airport on Saturday morning before heading to their hometowns on Sunday.

Securing a 2-1 victory over Spain at the Yves du Manoir Stadium, a brace from captain Harmanpreet Singh and crucial saves by PR Sreejesh sealed the medal. As the team arrived in Amritsar, Hardik Singh's mother, Kamaljeet Kaur, and Mandeep Singh's father shared their overwhelming pride.

"We are feeling very proud. I have no words to describe my feelings... We were supporting the team in Paris also and today we have gathered to welcome them," Kamaljeet Kaur told ANI. Mandeep Singh's father echoed the sentiment, expressing happiness for the team's achievement and the warm reception they received.

Sukhdev Singh's father, Ajit Singh, compared the victory to winning a gold medal, stating that the joy was indescribable. "They have won and come, it feels that they have won Gold. It feels great. As soon as he arrived, my son put his medal around my neck. There can be no greater joy than this," he said, extending congratulations to the entire team and wishing for continued blessings.

In an electrifying atmosphere, the team celebrated their triumph despite being down 0-1 after the first quarter. Sreejesh, playing his last game for India, was emotional as his teammates joined him on the ground to mark this historic win. This victory marks the first time in 52 years that India has won consecutive bronze medals in hockey, with the last being at the 1972 Munich Games.
