Arsenal's Defensive Setback: Tomiyasu Out with Knee Injury

Arsenal is set to begin their Premier League campaign without key defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, who is facing several weeks out due to a knee injury, manager Mikel Arteta revealed on Sunday. The Japanese international, aged 25, was omitted from Arsenal's pre-season U.S. tour and missed Sunday's 2-0 victory over Lyon in London.

“I think it will take weeks on that one unfortunately,” Arteta told reporters regarding Tomiyasu's injury. “He's going to have to be patient and work through it because I think it's going to take a few weeks.” Dutch defender Jurrien Timber also missed the game due to a knee injury but is expected to rejoin the first team next week, Arteta added.

Arsenal, who finished as runners-up last season, are set to start their Premier League campaign at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
