Italy international Sandro Tonali is poised to rejoin Newcastle on August 28 following his suspension for breaching betting regulations.

The midfielder has been sidelined since October, serving a 10-month ban imposed by Italy's soccer federation due to betting on teams he played for. An additional two-month ban was imposed but suspended until the end of the season.

Newcastle confirmed that they have received official notification from Italy's soccer federation, clarifying that Tonali's ban will conclude on August 27. As a result, he will miss Newcastle's initial Premier League matches against Southampton and Bournemouth, as well as the League Cup fixture against Nottingham Forest on August 27. Tonali is expected to make his return in a home game against Tottenham on September 1.
