India's double Olympic medallist, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, confirmed his participation in the Diamond League meet in Lausanne on August 22, despite nursing a persistent groin injury. Chopra recently clinched a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, having previously won a historic gold in Tokyo three years ago.

Chopra, speaking during a virtual interaction, stated, ''I have finally decided to participate in the Lausanne Diamond League, which begins on August 22.'' After a busy post-Olympic period, Chopra began training in Switzerland and remains determined to end the season on a high note, despite the injury.

Following the conclusion of the Diamond League in Brussels from September 13-14, Chopra will consult doctors, with surgery being a likely option. ''The final treatment will be after the season ends. There is just one month left. I will try to take care of it as much as possible and consult the doctors later,'' said Chopra.

Chopra needs to finish in the top-six of the Diamond League Meetings series to qualify for the season finale in Brussels. His back-to-back Olympic medals represent a monumental feat for an Indian athlete, although his throw fell short of Arshad Nadeem's gold-winning 92.97m for Pakistan.
