Australian pacer Mitchell Starc has likened the test cricket rivalry with India to the storied Ashes series against England and expressed optimism about reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on home ground. Despite their World Test Championship title, the elusive series win over India remains a significant goal for Australia’s current cricket squad.

The much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy will kick off with a day match at Perth Stadium from November 22 to November 26. India, having won the last two series in Australia, is eyeing a historic hat-trick. Speaking to Wide World of Sports, Starc highlighted the series' importance, stating, "Being five matches now it is probably right on par with an Ashes series. We always want to win every game at home and we know India is a very strong team."

A veteran of 89 Tests, Starc, emphasized the importance of the longer format of the game, with seven consecutive Tests on the horizon. "The Tests will always be taking precedence for me," said Starc. The second Test will run from December 6 to 10 at Adelaide Oval, followed by the third Test from December 14 to 18 at The Gabba. The Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground will take place from December 26 to 30, with the final Test at Sydney Cricket Ground concluding from January 3 to 7.
