Babe Ruth's historic jersey, worn during Game Three of the 1932 World Series, has set a new record for sporting memorabilia, fetching $24.12 million at auction. This momentous sale surpasses the previous high, held by a Michael Jordan jersey from the 1998 NBA finals, which sold for $10.1 million in 2022.

Chris Ivy, the director of sports auctions at Heritage Auctions, likened the jersey to owning the 'Mona Lisa' of sports memorabilia. He noted the continued fascination surrounding Ruth's famous gesture before hitting his legendary home run. 'We know that he pointed, but we don't know if he was pointing to the pitcher, towards the Cubs players in the dugout, or calling his shot,' Ivy explained.

The Yankees emerged victorious in the series, winning 7-5, marking Ruth's seventh and final World Series triumph.
