Tight end Hunter Henry's accelerated comeback from a torn ACL remains on the fast track for the Los Angeles Chargers. Henry tore the knee ligament in May but vowed to work to be back for the playoffs if the Chargers moved into position. Los Angeles owns the fifth seed in the AFC playoffs and travels to Baltimore for the wild-card matchup with the Ravens this weekend. All indications are Henry will be ready to start at tight end.
"I believe the knee is stable," Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said Monday. "Did some things last week and I thought he looked really good. Now it's just about his conditioning, getting back the chemistry with our offense and just playing football." Henry started 13 games last season and emerged as the No. 1 tight end before he was hurt during offseason workouts.
The Chargers re-signed Antonio Gates following Henry's injury. Gates led Chargers tight ends with 28 receptions and three touchdowns in 2018. Henry was activated from the physically unable to perform list this month. Running back Melvin Gordon also worked out with the Chargers on Monday and plans to play at Baltimore. He said Monday he tweaked his knee in the Chargers' 23-9 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Gordon limped off the field during the game but said he'll be ready to face the Ravens. --Field Level Media
