Brentford forward Ivan Toney has signed with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, committing until 2028. Toney, who joined Brentford in 2020, did not play in any game recently after head coach Thomas Frank hinted at a possible move during the last summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old leaves Brentford after accumulating 72 goals in 141 games, including 36 during his time in the Premier League. His tenure was also marked by his sidelining for the first half of last season due to an eight-month ban for betting-related offenses.

Despite his hiatus, Toney made a notable return by scoring in the Premier League and earning a spot in England's Euro 2024 squad. He contributed to Harry Kane's winning goal against Slovakia and converted a penalty in the shoot-out against Switzerland.

Toney's journey at Brentford began with a £5m transfer from Peterborough in 2020. His outstanding form contributed to Brentford's promotion, as he netted 31 goals in the Championship.

After Brentford's elevation to the Premier League, Toney scored 12 goals in his first season and followed up with 20 goals in the 2022/23 season, trailing only behind Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in the scoring charts. His momentum was halted by a betting ban, but he made a triumphant return with four goals in 17 appearances last season.

"Working with Ivan over the last four years has been a pleasure. Averaging more than a goal every two games is phenomenal," noted Brentford coach Thomas Frank. "He's been an incredible goalscorer, a strong link-up player, and a leader. It's been a wonderful journey together. Ivan has aided the team, and the team has supported him. I wish him the best in his new chapter. Ivan leaves as a Brentford legend," he added. (ANI)
