Bangladesh Triumphs Over Pakistan in Test Series Sweep

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto hails the team's remarkable performance as they sweep the Test series against Pakistan 2-0. The win boosts their confidence ahead of the India series and propels them to 4th place in the ICC World Test Championship standings.

Bangladesh has recorded a remarkable triumph, sweeping the two-match Test series against Pakistan 2-0. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has lauded the visitors' outstanding performances over the past two weeks, noting the significant efforts made despite a rain-disrupted start to the second Test.

Speaking after the victory, Shanto stated, "This win means a lot to us. We were determined to win here and everyone's commitment has paid off. Our pacers were exceptional, and the entire team has displayed great work ethic and honesty. This victory gives us immense confidence as we prepare to face India next."

Highlighting notable contributions, Shanto praised the efforts of Joy, Shadman, and Zakir while also commending the experienced Mushi and Shakib. The skipper noted that their performances are pivotal as the team gears up for the India series. This historic win marks Bangladesh's first Test series victory (of two matches or more) against any team other than Zimbabwe and the West Indies, as confirmed by the ICC.

The momentum from this win has catapulted Bangladesh to No. 4 in the ICC World Test Championship standings, surpassing England with a points percentage of 45.83. On the final day, Bangladesh resumed at 42/0, requiring 143 more runs for victory. Despite losing both openers in quick succession, steady performances from Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque, combined with the veteran presence of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan, guided Bangladesh to a historic win.
