South Korea's Suwon FC has ended the contract of midfielder Son Ju-ho following a lifetime ban handed down by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) over allegations of match-fixing and bribery, the club reported on Friday. Son has refuted these accusations, stating that he was coerced into giving a false confession after enduring nearly 10 months of harsh detention conditions.

The 32-year-old, who previously played for Chinese Super League team Shandong Taishan FC, requested the contract termination to alleviate confusion among loyal fans. Suwon FC, acknowledging the turmoil, accepted his request to support both the players and the fans.

Contact attempts to reach Son or his agent have thus far been unsuccessful. Meanwhile, South Korean media reported that the CFA has forwarded the case to FIFA for a potential disciplinary review, casting doubt on Son's future career with the Korea Football Association.
