INDE Racing, India's first bike racing team, has made history by securing third place in the prestigious FIM E-Xplorer World Cup. The electric off-road racing competition saw the team accumulate an impressive 479 points across four rounds, marking an outstanding debut season.
Sandra Gomez, the team's standout female rider, clinched the top spot in the Women's category with 271 points. Spenser Wilton and Runar Sudamann contributed 162 and 46 points respectively, ensuring the team's overall third-place finish in the men's division. The team trailed behind Bonnell Racing and Honda Racing, who scored 498 and 490 points.
Speaking to ANI, Wilton reflected on the challenges they faced throughout the season. "We had a long season," he said. "I had an injury partway through, so we had to find another rider. We've been switching bikes and travelling across Europe, which isn't easy. But all the hard work paid off, and we are super excited to be on the podium." Looking ahead, Wilton emphasized the importance of strong early performances next year to ensure a top finish.
Abhishek Kankanala, the owner of INDE Racing, shared insights on the inspiration behind the team's establishment. "India needs to wake up to sports beyond cricket," Kankanala said. "We have invested in various sports and are proudly representing the country. INDE Racing reflects India, and we are excited about the future of motorsports." He also highlighted Wilton's Indian roots, adding a personal touch to their journey.
