The Delhi Half Marathon concluded triumphantly on Sunday, as more than 36,000 participants took to the streets for the 'RunForZeroHunger' initiative. Organized by Vedanta through its Anil Agarwal Foundation (AAF), the race resulted in a pledge of 10 million meals to combat hunger, double the contribution from last year.
In its past two editions, the marathon facilitated the provision of seven million meals for children at Nand Ghar, AAF's premier Women & Child Development project, featuring advanced Anganwadis. This year, the initiative expanded its focus to include animals, aligning with the 'One Health' approach, through the Animal Care Organization (TACO), benefiting Nand Ghar children in 14 Indian states.
The event was flagged off by key figures, including Priya Agarwal Hebbar of Vedanta, and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. Participants, including celebrities and athletes, embodied a united front against malnutrition. An impressive medal, crafted from high-grade zinc from Rajasthan's Zawar Mines, was awarded to finishers, marking a historic contribution to the fight against hunger.
