In a wave of criticism circulating on social media, India head coach Gautam Gambhir has come forward to defend cricketer KL Rahul. Despite a disappointing show in the first Test against New Zealand, where Rahul was dismissed for a duck in Bengaluru, Gambhir is poised to back the under-fire player.
Emphasizing that the team management's perspective is what truly matters, Gambhir noted, "Social media does not matter one bit. He is batting really well in tough conditions and deserves the team's backing." Rahul did show some form with a 68-run effort against Bangladesh on challenging pitches in Kanpur.
However, Sarfaraz Khan's impressive century in the first Test adds pressure on Rahul, who must step up as India aims to level the series. The team faces an uphill battle after their historic low of 46 runs in Bengaluru. Gambhir reflected, "Cricket, sports are a big leveller."
