Australia's cricket captain Pat Cummins has lauded Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah as the 'most influential player' for India in the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. Cummins' remarks came after Australia's resounding 184-run win against India in the Melbourne Test, allowing the hosts to lead the series 2-1.

Bumrah's prowess was on full display with his bowling feats. Despite Australia's upper hand in the first innings, Bumrah's quick wickets pulled India back into the competition. His performance continued into the second innings, where he concluded with impressive figures of 9/156, becoming the top wicket-taker in the series with 30 wickets at an average of 12.83.

During the post-match conference, Cummins acknowledged Bumrah's role in complicating Australia's innings at various points. 'Bumrah is a fantastic bowler in peak form. He's been indispensable for India, often making our innings tough,' Cummins noted. Even while crediting the entire Indian bowling lineup, Cummins emphasized Bumrah's threat.

Australia set a formidable target of 340 runs in the Melbourne Test's fifth day, but India fell short, bowled out for 155 in the 80th over under a relentless Australian attack. Pat Cummins earned the 'Player of the Match' honor for his remarkable contribution with both the bat and the ball.
