In a heartbreaking turn of events, Manika Batra, one of India's premier table tennis players, is grieving the loss of her father. Girish Batra succumbed to cardiac arrest, passing away on Tuesday. The family held his cremation on the same day in Inderpuri.

The 29-year-old athlete has represented India with distinction on multiple platforms. She claimed gold medals in both the women's singles and women's team events at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, cementing her status as the nation's top player in the sport.

In addition to her Commonwealth achievements, Manika also secured a silver in women's doubles and a bronze in mixed doubles. At the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, she further added to her accolades with a bronze medal in mixed doubles.
