Cricket Tensions: ICC Punishes Pakistani Players for On-Field Misconduct

The ICC fined Pakistani cricketers Shaheen Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Kamran Ghulam for inappropriate on-field behavior during a tri-series match against South Africa. Afridi's actions included obstructing a South African batter, while Shakeel and Ghulam faced penalties for overly provocative celebrations. Comparisons were drawn with a similar fine on India's Virat Kohli.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued fines and demerit points to Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Kamran Ghulam following a heated exchange during a tri-series match against South Africa.

Shaheen was penalized 25 percent of his match fee for violating Article 2.12 of the Code due to deliberate obstruction of batter Matthew Breetzke, leading to physical contact in the 28th over. This mirrors a similar sanction faced by India's Virat Kohli during the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Contrastingly, Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam were fined for celebrating too aggressively after Temba Bavuma's run-out, breaching Article 2.5. Despite the tensions, Afridi and Breetzke ended on good terms, shaking hands post-match.
