Indian cyclist Mohit Kohli tragically lost his life in Chile while on a mission to set a new world record for the fastest 10,000 km bicycle journey across South America, media reports revealed.
According to local radio and officials, Kohli, 36, was struck by a minibus on Route 5 in the Pozo Almonte commune at approximately 8.30 am local time on Wednesday, leading to his immediate death at the scene.
Authorities swiftly arrived to investigate the accident, with initial findings reported by Lieutenant Alexis Gutierrez Corbalan from the Traffic Accident Investigation Section. Kohli's ambitious journey, aimed at breaking the record held by Austrian Michael Strasser, started in Cartagena and included countries such as Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Chile.
