The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is set to relaunch the T20 Mumbai League on May 27, ending a six-year hiatus marked by its last occurrence in 2019. This decision was finalized during the MCA's apex council meeting on Wednesday.
According to MCA president Ajinkya Naik, the league's return underscores the association's commitment to nurturing young talent and providing competitive platforms that benefit players' development. Among the new initiatives is a structured graduation program in collaboration with Mumbai University, aiming to blend practical cricket training with academic qualifications for aspiring cricketers.
Additionally, the MCA plans to identify emerging talents for a UK tour, offering them exposure to international playing conditions. Furthermore, a new cricket academy in Thane district will be established to bolster grassroots development with top-notch coaching and training facilities, supported by the Thane Municipal Corporation.
