In a thrilling opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Australia shattered records with a dramatic run-chase of 352 runs against England in Lahore. Josh Inglis led the charge with a stunning century, while Alex Carey and Glenn Maxwell contributed vital innings to secure victory with five wickets to spare.

Inglis, in exceptional form, notched an unbeaten 120 off just 86 balls, equaling the fastest century in tournament history. Despite early losses, Australia's hopes were revived through partnerships, particularly between Inglis and Carey, who added 146 runs for the fifth wicket before Glenn Maxwell's rapid cameo sealed the victory.

England, earlier put into bat, set a formidable target with Ben Duckett spearheading their innings. Duckett's aggressive 165 provided a solid foundation, but Australia's bowling attack, led by Ben Dwarshius, held their nerve to restrict England to 351/8, paving the way for Australia's historic chase.
