Kenyan Marathon Champion Faces Doping Suspension

Brimin Kipkorir, a prominent Kenyan marathon runner, has been provisionally suspended due to a positive test for banned substances, as announced by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on Monday.

Kipkorir, who set a course record at the 2024 Sydney Marathon with a time of 2:06:18 and claimed victory at the Frankfurt Marathon in both 2022 and 2023, now faces uncertainty following the suspension.

The presence of prohibited substances such as EPO and Furosemide was detected in a sample collected on November 22, 2024. This marks another high-profile doping case within Kenyan marathon circles, with Diana Kipyokei losing her 2021 Boston Marathon title for similar reasons.
