Boca Juniors manager Fernando Gago refuses to resign after the team's Copa Libertadores exit. Despite a 2-1 home victory, Boca was eliminated on penalties by Alianza Lima. Gago expressed determination, focusing on the Primera Division and the Club World Cup, facing tough competition ahead.
Boca Juniors manager Fernando Gago has no plans to resign following his team's disappointing exit from South America's Libertadores Cup at the hands of Peru's Alianza Lima. Boca secured a 2-1 win in the second leg at La Bombonera after a 1-0 defeat in Peru, but ultimately lost 5-4 on penalties.
"It's a huge blow. We deserved to win. We had numerous chances, but it just didn't pan out," Gago lamented to reporters. "The dressing room is heartbroken, as are the fans. We'll keep working hard and strive to grow from this experience," Gago added, affirming his commitment.
Despite the setback, Gago remains optimistic about the future, targeting success in the Primera Division and the Club World Cup, where they face formidable opponents like Benfica, Bayern Munich, and Auckland City in Group B.
