Former England cricket captain Kevin Pietersen has been named the mentor of Delhi Capitals for the upcoming IPL season, marking his first foray into coaching in the league. Pietersen, who has fond memories as a former player and captain of the side in 2014, is eager to help guide the team.

The 44-year-old brings significant experience to Delhi Capitals, having accumulated 5,695 runs in 200 T20s, including 1001 runs during 36 IPL matches for various franchises. He joins a revamped coaching team led by Hemang Badani as head coach, alongside assistant coach Matthew Mott, bowling coach Munaf Patel, and director of cricket Venugopal Rao. Delhi Capitals have made significant personnel changes after finishing sixth last season.

Under new leadership, the team aims to clinch their first IPL title. Delhi Capitals, who lost to Mumbai Indians in the 2020 final, will face Lucknow Super Giants in their opening match on March 24 in Visakhapatnam.
