In a significant setback for Jonas Vingegaard, the Danish cyclist has been forced to pull out of the Paris-Nice race following a hand injury received during a crash in the fifth stage.
The two-time Tour de France champion will concentrate on recuperation at home, according to a statement from his team, Visma-Lease a Bike, as they navigate this unfortunate interruption in his race calendar.
Vingegaard's withdrawal comes after finishing second in last year's Tour, an event that was also marred by a crash in the Tour of the Basque Country, impacting his lead-up preparations to the main race.
