The Congress party credited its success to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, highlighting her pivotal role in bringing this to the attention of Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. This led to a revision in the Inter-University Sports Calendar, securing the tournament's timely occurrence.

Last year's delays resulted in many competitions being canceled, posing academic and financial risks for players. Concerns included loss of grace marks, obstacles to further education, and missed cash awards. The tournament will run from April 25 to 29, marking a crucial revival for the sport.
