Chennai and Madurai have been announced as the hosts for the upcoming FIH Junior Men's World Cup, scheduled to take place from November 28 to December 10. Hockey India has confirmed that 24 teams will compete for the prestigious title, marking the first time such a large number will participate at this level.
This is the third time India will stage the tournament, following successful events in 2016 in Lucknow and 2021 in Bhubaneswar. Notably, India clinched victory in 2016. This year's decision to include Madurai as a host city will take high-profile international hockey to different parts of India.
Past tournaments have seen Argentina and Germany secure wins in the 2021 and 2023 editions, respectively. India, which finished fourth in the 2023 tournament held in Kuala Lumpur, aims for a strong showing as hosts in the upcoming games.
